HPR Youth Triathlon West Shore Re-Cap

This past weekend saw the inaugural HPR Youth Triathlon West Shore take place in Cowood. On a perfect spring morning 31 kids from ages 6 – 14 took to the waters of the Juan De Fuca Rec Centre for the varied distance pool swim, followed by a challenging 2 km loop on the bike that saw the kids tackle a tough little hill on each lap. The run was all contained within the park on a nice soft rolling 1 km chip trail. Results can be found here.

This event would not have been possible without the awesome volunteers who were out there keeping the kids on course and safe throughout the event. We would also like to thank National Team member Matt Sharpe who was there early to set up and stayed around to present the kids with their well deserved medals and awards.

For many of the athletes this was a warm up for the Victoria Youth Triathlon which takes place on June 7th at UVIC. This race sells out every year and is filling fast, so be sure to register soon to avoid disappointment.
