What a Weekend!
A fantastic weekend for Human Powered Racing.
David and Nancy Carleton were back at another National Championship in Ottawa where once again David was denied a swim due to water conditions on Saturday. After last year’s cold temperatures and a losing battle with hypothermia David went on for a strong finish and redemption this year. On Sunday, Nancy Carleton went on to win her 6th straight sprint distance Age Group National Championship. This time in a new age group and with new the drafting format. Congratulations Nancy!
Sunday saw 4 Human Powered Racing athletes racing the new Whistler 70.3 which was run in conjunction with Ironman Canada. It was a day of top 10’s for the team with Debbie Jackson finishing 3rd in the 55 – 59 age group, Sandy Wilson finishing 4th in 40 – 44, Graham George finishing 10th in 45 – 49 in AND Fawn Whiting winning the women’s race overall (and finishing 13th overall) with a time of 4:37. A fantastic day all around and a nice change from last year’s tough conditions.
A special congratulations to B78 athlete and all around great person Steph Corker on her first overall Ironman Victory.
