Committing is the First Step
As an athlete the clearest way for me to set my intentions was to commit. Whether this was signing up for a race, joining a swim team or simply committing to a friend to meet them for a workout at a set time and location. Picking a race, signing up and making a commitment to train for that race was one of the easiest ways to make myself accountable.
As a coach, I encourage athletes to take certain concrete steps. Set the goal. Sign Up. Commit to the process. Surround yourself with people, coaches and athletes that will help you pursue your goal and stay committed to the journey. At Human Powered Racing we strive to lay out these fundamental steps that will allow our athletes to achieve their personal goals.
Since getting involved with race management at Human Powered Racing, we have taken the step to provide event and race opportunities for athletes to commit to. Not every athlete wants start out racing an Ironman or 70.3 distance race. For this reason we have made the commitment to provide high quality grass roots races (such as The Triathlon of Compassion) for athletes starting out. We are also committed to putting on races for the next generation with our Island Savings Greater Victoria Youth Triathlon Series.
These races provide a tangible goal for athletes of all ages and abilities to strive for. Whether a training race for the seasoned athlete or the culmination of a life long goal our races are fun, safe and rewarding.
We invite you to check out our race line up for 2018.
