Weekend Update – March 19th

The past few weeks have seen Human Powered Racing athletes toeing the start line of a few different types of endurance events. From running races to cycling to Ironman, we have kicked off the racing season on many fronts.

Congratulations to Human Powered Racing athletes Colette Hopkins (p.b. 1:58:36) and Diana Thaxter (1:41:10) who raced the Comox Half Marathon this past weekend. This was the 6th event of the Vancouver Island Race Series.

On March 11th, Evan Flater made a return to bike racing at the Snake Spring Classic in Langley. This was a comeback a few years in the making. Evan stayed on the same lap as the winning group and finished the 62km race in a time of 1:48:48.

After a tough lead up to Ironman New Zealand, Fawn Whiting was forced to pull out of the race after a great swim and bike. A nagging Achilles injury that really flared up after her fantastic race at Hell of the West made running a near impossibility. You can read more about Fawn’s journey in her most recent report.

As the racing season gets into full swing, be sure to stay on the lookout for a Human Powered Racing athlete swimming, running or biking on by.
