Sandy Wilson, Kara Hobby and Nadine Naughton at the finish of the Goddess 5k race

Oliver Half Iron/ Goddess 5k

While many of the Human Powered Racing team were volunteering and helping put on the Victoria Youth Triathlon we did have a few athletes racing around the province.

Daphne Dobko-Walsh and Justin Martin were back in the Okanagan a week after the Challenge camp to race the Oliver Half Iron. Daphne decided to make the trip just a couple of days before the event and went on to have a fantastic race winning her age group in a time of 6:13. Justin was out to avenge his 2015 DNF at this race when temperatures soared into the upper 30’s. Justin won his age group (65-69) and persevered in conditions (a high of 43 degrees was reached) that made last years event look cool by comparison.

Meanwhile in Langford, Kara Hobby was racing to a second place finish in the Goddess 5k while Sandy Wilson was pacing her sister Nadine Naughton to a great finish in a race that also had some very warm conditions.

Congratulations to everyone on another great weekend for Human Powered Racing.
