XTERRA Victoria Wrap Up
Congratulations to everyone who took part in the 5th Anniversary of the XTERRA Victoria Weekend!
An event that started out with 47 athletes 5 years ago saw 191 athletes take to Durrance Lake on Sunday in a bid for spots to both the XTERRA World Championship in 2016 and the ITU Cross Championship in Penticton in 2017. Professional athletes were also racing for a prize purse of $7500 USD and points towards the overall championship of the Pan American Tour. Slowtwitch has a great write up on the Pro Event. Congratulations to race winners; Karsten Madsen and Katy Button.
Human Powered Racing athletes were not only out there volunteering and keeping the athletes safe and on course, but we also had a few of the Human Powered Racing Dirt Team racing over the weekend. Congratulations to Ivor John, Brian Strilesky and Jay Krieger who were out there racing the Trail Run on Saturday. Kelly Sharman was kicking some butt like a “Boss” in the Sprint Distance race on Sunday and Adrian Walton was racing to a 3rd place finish in his age group in the Championship Event. Mark Hopkins was having the day of the mechanical out there with broken chains and flats resulting in a DNF.
Great to see HPR Almuni Jaylene Kemp, Marcia Kirby and Drew Roberston racing as well.
