Racing Update
The Human Powered Racing training season may be over, but that does not mean that everyone is taking a break. This past week we had a number of athletes racing everything from trail runs to sprint World Championships to Half Ironman’s.
-On Sunday September 11th Kelly Sharman raced the Finlayson Arm 28km. In a race he described as one of the “toughest” he has ever done Kelly finished the 28km with an elevation gain of 4400 ft in 6 hours and 10 minutes.
-Last Thursday two of Human Powered Racing’s National Team Members; Kara Hobby and Nancy Carleton raced the ITU Sprint Triathlon World Championship in Cozumel Mexico. In her ongoing quest for a podium finish at the World Championship, Nancy posted her best finish to date coming 4th in the women’s 55 – 59 division. Kara improved from her 65th place finish the previous year to wind up 31st in the Women’s 30 – 34 division. Both athletes finished with a race time just over 1:18.
-April Vesey raced the Cultus Lake Half Iron this past Sunday and finished 1st in her age group with a 6:33 clocking. This was a fantastic return to long course racing for April. We are all super proud of you!
Congratulations Team.
