Parksville 360/ TC 10K

Spring is (supposed to be) here. One of the annual traditions at Human Powered Racing is a round trip bike to Parksville. We have been doing this ride for 10 years now and it really is a great kick off to what is supposed to be summer weather and riding without fenders! Unfortunately, the last few years have been a ride where it is more the end of winter and weather that is more reminiscent of February/March than it is of May/June.

Once again we had a great crew that didn’t let the weather stand in the way of getting the miles in and the ride completed. A quick stop for lunch in Chemainus at the The Willow Street Cafe is part of the itinerary on the way up and we were lucky to avoid the rain up until this point on the Saturday. However, the afternoon was another story. Pouring rain and wind took over and it was a very soggy bunch that rolled into Parksville in the late afternoon.

The tradition of Pizza, Beer and playoff hockey at the Paradise Seashell Motel is alive and well and come morning everyone was ready to get back on their bikes and start the journey home. Once again we were lucky and stayed dry for  most of the ride, but the sky’s opened up as we hit the Malahat and everyone arrived home just a tad muddy. Safe and tired, but MUDDY!

Our crew was once again lucky to have the best support crew out there. A big Thank You to Marsha, Tony, Emily, Martine, Heather, Carole and Dianna. Thank you to DAMS Ford as well for providing us with a very cool Ford Explorer to use as one of our support vehicles.

This past weekend Human Powered Racing was well represented at the TC 10k.

Congratulations to Sandy Wilson, Nadine Naughton, April Vesey and Thom Brennan for their great races.
