Weekly Round Up
This past weekend the summer arrived in Victoria and so did the first race of the Island Savings Greater Victoria Youth Triathlon Series. The HPR Youth Triathlon West Shore took place Sunday morning under warm sunny sky’s. Athletes took to the water in the pool of the Juan De Fuca Recreation Centre, rode their bikes on a 2km out and back loop that included a challenging hill on each lap and ran on the wood chip trails next to the Rec. Centre. A large group of volunteers made sure that the athletes had a safe, fun race and all of these athletes are now on their way to a series sweatshirt for participating in all 3 series events. Full results can be found here.
The past two weekends also saw Human Powered Racing athletes on the race course. Congratulations to Shane Russell who placed 3rd in his age group at the Sprint Event of the Westwood Triathlon in Nanaimo, and also to Nancy and David Carleton who raced the North Shore Triathlon.
Nancy added to her string of age group victory’s with a win in her age group while David had a strong 4th place age group finish.
Next up for many of the team’s athletes is the Victoria 70.3
See you there!
