July Round Up
July is always one of the busiest months of the year at Human Powered Racing and 2017 was no different. The month starts off with the annual trip over to Port Angeles, Washington on Canada Day for the Hurricane Ridge Climb and then it is nothing but training and racing; The XTERRA Trail Run, XTERRA Victoria, The Peach Classic, Challenge Half, Challenge Standard, Challenge Aqua Bike, Ironman Canada, Whistler 70.3, MEC Victoria Sprint Triathlon and the Edmonton WTS Series were all taking place in the month of July. This was just the racing. This is also one of the biggest months of training for those preparing for the ITU World Triathlon Festival in Penticton at the end of August. Every weekend had Human Powered Racing athletes off somewhere racing to a finish line. Notable performances included Fawn Whiting’s 5th place finish in the women’s pro field at Ironman Canada. Mike Neill with the overall victory at the Challenge Standard race in Penticton. Kara Hobby, Nancy Carleton, Rob Dibden and Colette Hopkins also had wins in their age groups with both Nancy and Colette finishing 3rd overall in their respective races.
