Tri of Compassion turns 25

This year will be the 25th running of the Triathlon of Compassion. The Tri of Compassion is a fun, grass routes style triathlon based in Esquimalt with the swim at the Esquimalt Recreation Centre pool and the bike and run in the surrounding area. The run course loops Macauley Point, with its WW1 era military ramparts, and takes in views of Juan de Fuca Straight, the Olympic Mountains and the Victoria waterfront.  It might be the prettiest run course of any Vancouver Island triathlon.

The Tri of Compassion is a fundraiser for the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre. Since its inception the event has raised nearly $300,000.00 to support the programs and services provided by the Centre through the fundraising efforts of participants and friends of the event. This year the fundraising goal for the Tri of Compassion is $35,000.00.  We have great prizes for our fundraisers and everyone who raises $200 gets a cool souvenir shirt.

The Tri of Compassion is an excellent race for beginner triathletes with its short pool swim and its relatively flat, non-technical bike and run courses.  We offer pre-race clinics for registered participants who want to learn more about the technical aspects of the triathlon.  It is also a great race for accomplished triathletes with prize money for the top three finishers in each gender.

In addition to the adult sprint distance race the event has a full range of Kids of Steel (youth) categories and distances and is race #3 of the Island Savings Greater Victoria Youth Triathlon Series.   We also offer a kids clinic for youth participants wanting to learn about the race.

If you would like to learn more about the Triathlon of Compassion or to register for the race, visit the event website or contact ">the race director.

We would like to thank Robert Cameron Law and Esquimalt Country Grocer, long time and ongoing sponsors of the Triathlon of Compassion.
