Racing, Training, Organizing

This past weekend was busy on many fronts for Human Powered Racing.

April Vesey made the journey to race Ironman 70.3 Chattanooga with a few of her friends and training partners from her time living in Bermuda. April had a great race and despite a penalty on the bike went on to finish strong in a time of 6:29. Congratulations April!

Back in Victoria, the first race of the Island Savings Greater Victoria Youth Triathlon Series took place on Sunday Morning. The HPR Youth Triathlon West Shore saw a great turnout with athletes from age 6 – 17 taking part. Results can be found here. A special thank you goes out to all of the volunteers, Human Powered Racing athletes and parents that helped out to make this another successful event. Next up is the Victoria Youth Triathlon which takes place at The University of Victoria on June 9th. If you are able to lend a hand at this even please contact Mike Neill ()

Meanwhile, in Whistler, Coach Mike Neill teamed up with Head Coach of b78 Coaching Jasper Blake to put on the Annual Whistler Ironman/ 70.3 Prep camp. A fantastic group of athletes toughed out some rainy and cold conditions on Friday only to see the sun break through on Saturday for a great long recon ride and run of the Whistler course. Highlights of the camp included numerous bear sightings, some very cold swims in both Lost Lake and Alta Lake and a great group dinner to finish off the weekend. A special thank you to Rob and Sheena Harris for driving support on Saturday.
