A big couple of weekends for the Human Powered Racing Team.
While a number of the team were lending their hands to helping run the Vic Youth Triathlon last weekend at the University of Victoria, 3 members of the team were up in Oliver racing the Half Iron distance race. Sandy Wilson, Justin Martin and Debbie Jackson raced in scorching hot conditions. Sandy and Debbie placed 6th and 4th respectively in what was a very slow day due to the desert heat. Justin hit the start line stronger than ever, but a sore hip that has been plaguing him for a little while flared up and he made the tough (or not) decision to pack it in fight another day.
Last Sunday we also had Barb Rober racing to the win in the Goddess 5km race in a time of 20:46.
Yesterday at the Victoria 70.3 and Sprint Triathlon Human Powered Racing was out in full force both racing and cheering. In the Sprint race Nancy Carleton followed up her 2014 overall win with a strong 2nd place and another age group victory. Erin Glazier also raced to a strong finish and a 4th place finish in her age group.
In the 70.3 event Ivor John (35th) Bob Janicki (6th) Robin Dunkley (21st) and Barb Rober (13th) had very strong races in what has become a very large international event in just a few years. Congratulations to everyone who raced yesterday. As always, it was great to be out there cheering on everyone at the Human Powered Racing Tent.
