XTERRA racers in the transition zone: team 4 hope

XTERRA Victoria 2018

The 2018 XTERRA Victoria week-end is in less than two weeks. On July 7-8 many of the best off road athletes from around the planet will descend on Durrance Lake to try to claim their share of the prize purse and to collect valuable XTERRA Pan Am Tour points. Our pro field has attracted some incredible talent including the current tour points leaders on both the men’s and women’s sides as well as many of the top racers vying for the overall Pan Am Tour Championship. Local XTERRA legend and Ironman Champion Brent McMahon has announced that he will be back racing in 2018.

The Trail Run goes on Saturday morning. With a typically small field and 50 spots available for the XTERRA Trail Running World Championships on Oahu, it is almost a sure thing that participants will qualify for a World Championship spot. Go to the trail run website for more info and to register.

The Triathlon is on Sunday. The Pros lead off, followed by the age group Championship Course athletes and then the Sprint Course athletes. Age group winners in the Championship race qualify for the XTERRA World Championship in Maui. The weather should be great and it will be a fun day.  Trek Bikes Victoria will be out looking after your mechanical needs and cooking hotdogs. Arbutus Physio will be there to look after your body.  There is still time to register.  Learn more at the XTERRA Triathlon website.

There is a course pre ride on Friday with past XTERRA Victoria champion and current World Cross Tri Champion Melanie McQuaid. Mel will take riders for a preview of the bike course with some expert tips on how to ride it.
