Human Powered Racing in Sooke
Human Powered Racing came to Sooke in February of 2018. It was a humble beginning for the four athletes who regularly attended workouts at the SeaParc Recreation Centre on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Our small but committed team was represented at a number of races this past summer including the Tri of Compassion, the Victoria Ironman 70.3, the Comox Valley Tri K and Swimrun Victoria, amongst others.
The start of our 2018/2019 season earlier this month saw a significant growth in our team membership. We now practice four days per week. As with last season, Mondays are a combined swim and bike workout and Wednesdays are a combined swim and run workout. We also ride on Saturday mornings and run on Sunday mornings.
The focus race for many of our team members for 2019 is the Victoria Ironman 70.3. It will be the first long distance race for many of our members. As a team we are excited to meet the challenge. By focussing on the journey and with the support of our team members and coaches, great things will happen.
