Fundraising with Human Powered Racing

Human Powered Racing hosts events. A large part of what we do is to organize events for multi-sport athletes. Some of our events are also important fundraisers for local charities. The charities that we have partnered with provide important services to our community and we believe strongly that hosting events for charities is a way for us to give back to the communities where our events take place.

We have been hosting the Triathlon of Compassion since 2012. This community focussed triathlon takes place near the end of June every year in Esquimalt. It is an important fundraiser for the Victoria Sexual Assault Centre. VSAC is committed to ending sexualized violence through healing, education, and prevention. They rely heavily on financial support from the community to do this important work. We work closely with VSAC staff and volunteers to make the Tri of Compassion a successful fundraiser. Through the Triathlon of Compassion triathletes of all ages can participate in a challenging and fun event while helping to raise funds for VSAC.

Last year we added the Cowichan Challenge to the list of Human Powered Racing events. The Cowichan Challenge takes place at the beginning of July at Fuller Lake in the Cowichan Valley. It includes multiple adult and youth distances and is a fundraiser for the Cowichan Search and Rescue Society. Cowichan SARS is a volunteer driven organization of professionally trained volunteers dedicated to search and rescue in the Cowichan Valley and surrounding regions. They rely on financial support from the community to continue this essential service. We support Cowichan SARS in their fundraising efforts and Cowichan SARS supports the Cowichan Challenge by providing first aid support at the event.
